Does the Raven test only cognitive skills? What about a child with excellent verbal skills?
All tests used in the Gifted and Talented Education program require some measure of cognitive as well as verbal skill. The Raven, although considered a non-reading test, contains many elements of word usage, abstract reasoning skill, and language acÂquisition. Results have shown that with the Raven, gifted traits are recognized in students with both strong verbal skills and non-verbal skills.
