Does the Race Card Trump the Ace of Spades?
I grew up in a town where the population is primarily Hispanic. My sixth grade class consisted of 32 kids. I was the only white one. There are areas of Oxnard which also are largely populated by various Asian nationalities, from Filipino to Guamanian to Korean. The only race that seemed to be in a smaller supply than Caucasians were the African Americans. When I first started noticing the opposite sex, I was drawn to white boys. Never a fan of blondes (perhaps because I was one myself), I was drawn to dark hair and light eyes from the get go. I never thought much of it, but I was looked down on by other girls. All of the other white girls that I knew thought I was silly for liking white boys when there were so many other attractive (in their opinions) Mexican boys to hit on. My first boyfriend was actually mixed. It was sixth grade, his name was Christian and he had a white mom and a Mexican dad. He had very light skin, black hair and blue eyes. The clincher?
