Does the R& TTE Directive cover also (radio) equipment which is already placed on the market in the Community?
No, the R&TTE Directive does only cover equipment which is placed on the market as from 8 April 2000. With respect to this date, the term “Placing on the Market” means the moment when the product, – and this means each individual product – moves from the phase of manufacturing to the phase of being sold, e.g. to a dealer, importer, retailer, etc. (for a more profound explanation, see the “Guide to the Implementation of Directives based on New Approach and Global Approach” (also known as “The Blue Guide”) on the Commission Web Site regarding the R&TTE.
