Does the Prophetic Word Bear Witness?
But first, it would be valuable to give you just a few things (this is by no means an exhaustive list) of what we look for in a prophetic word submission: 1) Does the person writing the Word, Dream, or Vision have a documented history of getting words that turn out to be accurate? 2) Does the person writing the revelation seek to call for prayer to STAND IN THE GAP to prevent a word of judgment from coming to pass? For instance, Abraham, the “Father of many nations,” was known to get in God’s face, as it were–to stand in the gap, to ask for mercy instead of judgment: Genesis 18:25, “Far be it from You (God) to do such a thing–to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from You! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” NIV So we at THE ELIJAH LIST seek out words where, even if judgment is seen prophetically, the person hearing of an impending disaster, will instead of accepting that word only as a done deal–at face value–he or
