Every industrial process causes some damage to the environment. However, during the production of Tetra Pak packages the impact is reduced to a minimum, due to modern production techniques used. For example, by using water-based inks for printing, replacing organic solvents that are harmful to the environment. Tetra Pak implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) on its plants, aiming to have all ISO 14001 or EMAS (European Unionís Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) certified. Tetra Pakís EMS is basically a program for continuous improvement of production processes by reducing environmental impacts.
