No, the ProCurve Switch 1800 Series does not support any of the Spanning Tree Protocols (802.1s, 802.1D, or 802.1w). Scenario A STP enabled device | | | X ← Connecting FDx with two cables (port 1 & port 2) and port successfully blocks (X). | | STP Disabled device Result: STP Disabled device passes the STP BPDUs from STP enabled device. “STP enabled device_port_1” receives BPDUs from “STP enabled device_port_2” and/or “STP enabled device_port_2” receives BPDUs from “STP enabled device_port_1”. STP enabled device successfully identifies the loop and blocks the appropriate port.
