Does the problem sound like it simply eye related or should I consider neurological problems as well?

I am sure that you must be already under the care of a good physician as he/she can guide you better by examining and going into more details of your history. I would also see an eye doctor just as a routine if not seen one in the past 6-8 months. However, the physician can be your first step.
