Does the Principal Investigator have to attend the IRB meeting when a project is being reviewed?
The Principal Investigator is not required to attend the meeting, but must send a representative. The WUH IRB requires the attendance of a physician listed on the study who has complete knowledge of the protocol. If there is no representation at the meeting and the committee has questions that cannot be answered the study will be Tabled (will not be approved at that meeting) until their questions can answered.
