Does the Premium get included in the cost of attendance used by the Financial Aid Office when assessing need?

The cost for UNC System-Wide Student Health Insurance Hard Waiver Plan is included in the cost of attendance for all financial aid applicants. If the student health insurance charge is on the student’s account in the cashier’s office within 10 days of the beginning of each semester, financial aid funds will automatically pay off that charge if aid funds are sufficient to do so after other university charges are paid. If the health insurance charge is applied after aid funds are credited, or if the student’s total aid is not sufficient to cover all university charges, the student will have to pay for the health insurance charge from other sources.
