Does the pink dye wash off?
Dye does not ‘wash off’ because it is not only on the skin surface but also absorbed into the skin; dyes stain and paints cover. Since dye absorbs into the tissue, the longer the exposure the deeper the staining. The surface layer can be lightened with washing, but not entirely. It takes serious scrubbing with lots of soap and warm water and even thereafter it’s obvious that something out of the ordinary had occurred. The surface area of the skin can be rubbed raw with too much abrasive washing and that could cause issues that make evading detection difficult. Remember that with only a minute or two of exposure the dye is deeply absorbed. Altercations do not usually allow for immediate decontamination procedures. In addition to the pepper spray causing noticeable incapacitating effects it would be unbearably painful to use warm temperature water on the skin.
