Does the Personal Access Reader have a keypad?

0

Yes. Both the keypad and digital display provide an easy, secure method for the user to enter his/her PIN number for user authentication before given access to a specific smart card application. To implement this function, the smart card application must know to do a CheckPIN at the reader. For complete implementation instructions, the smart card application developer must obtain the PC/SC developer toolkit from Microsoft (see their web site on how to obtain the kit: http://www.microsoft.com/security/tech/smartcards/) Together with the command set provided with the PC/SC driver (on the diskette in the Personal Access Reader package) the developer may easily implement this feature.
