I have attached the current policy we have on the implementation of NICE. This policy is being reviewed and is going to be a provider services policy. NHS Calderdale as a commissioning organisation has a clinical effectiveness strategy which I have also attached which details the current NICE process. In November 09 NICE are going to publish guidance on how commissioners should manage NICE guidance. The Evidence Based Practice Group agreed at its meeting in June 09 to hold off producing a specific policy on NICE for the commissioning arm of the organisation until NICE had published its guide in November as the process is mapped out in the strategy. Assessment of patients with low back pain is carried out by physiotherapists from Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) in both primary and secondary care. CHFT are currently reviewing practice in line with the guidelines, but do already offer a range of the services which the guidelines state should be implemented.1:1 trea
