Does the Palapa or thatch require any regular maintenance or special care?
No. When the thatch is new and first exposed to moisture, the palm sometimes leaches a natural residue that can spot the ground. It is easily washed off with a garden hose. By thoroughly hosing down and rinsing the palm thatch in the beginning, you may avoid some cleanup later. This procedure may be repeated.
