Does the order of addition of the various components of my formation matter as far as the effectiveness of the METHOCEL cellulose ether product is concerned?
It may or may not matter. Generally, if you are using a non-surface treated METHOCEL product, there are no order of addition considerations. However, if you are using a surface treated METHOCEL product, there may well be an order of addition consideration. In general, it is always best to disperse surface treated METHOCEL products in neutral pH water prior to the addition of alkaline components.
