A – No! The unit has a thermocouple and gas pilot system that provides a milli-volt of electricity to operate the gas valve. The gas valve is temperature regulated using a dry bulb thermostat to measure room temperature. This thermostat is attached to the bottom of the unit and is located in the cool air stream being drawn into the heat exchanger area. By being in this position, room air is always being mechanically monitored 24 hours a day.
