Does the ocean in Punalu`u ever become unsafe for swimming?
The beaches in the Punalu`u area are generally considered to be calm, family-friendly beaches, year-around. In past years there have been very rare periods of larger surf, and if this does happen it is due to highly unusual storm conditions in the Northern Pacific. It is important to know that these conditions are considered rare occurrences. On a day-in, day-out basis, Punalu`u beaches are considered to be some of the most favored family-style beaches on Oahu, due in part to their normally calm year-around conditions for swimming and snorkeling.
