Does the no carbs diet work to loose weight?
Yes the Adkins diet does work. It limits carbs but allows a few. You eat mostly protein. Meat, fish, eggs, cheese. The diet causes constipation and bad breath. You should talk to your doctor before you start this as you are young. Weight watchers diet has more varied foods as you are still growing and developing. Or a calorie count might be good. limit your calories to 1,200 for a few weeks and see how that goes. Just limit sweets and eat more veggies, limit pasta, bread and potatoes and other starchy veggies. Drink lots of water and avoid fizzy drinks. Best of luck!
There is no such thing as ‘no’ carbs. There are various different low carb diets though, namely the Atkins diet. The human body obtains energy very easily from carbohydrates, because carbs directly affect our blood sugar levels (glucose). High GI carbohydrates rise our glucose level quickly, where as low GI carbs rise it slowly. When our blood glucose level gets to high our body releases insulin which gets the excess glucose out of our blood and stores it into our muscle or liver glycogen stores. If the glycogen stores are full then any excess insulin gets stored as body fat. So by lowering the carb intake your body has no direct energy available and needs to convert glycogen back to glucose for energy, or use body fat. On an Atkins style diet, where you only consume about 40-50 grams of carbohydrates a day your body is constantly in this fat burning state called lipolysis. I would advise getting yourself the Atkins eBook because it has been awhile since I’ve read it and I’m a bit scra
A low carb diet means a diet low in starchy carbohydrates that are supposed to be fattening and these include bread, pasta, rice and cereals. Non-starchy carbohydrates are not fattening and these are mostly fruit and vegetables. The Atkins diet is a high protein diet that does not permit starchy carbohydrates. It certainly works but you can ruin your health in the process and most health authorities condemn it very strongly. White sugar or table sugar are also fattening carbohydrates and foods such as sweets and desserts are loaded with added sugar and that is fattening. The natural sugars in fruit are not fattening. Drinking more water and exercising more will both help to reduce your weight as both of them will boost your metabolism.
