Does the NMDP have guidelines for when a patient should be referred?
Yes. The NMDP and the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) have jointly developed guidelines for transplant consultation. The intent of these guidelines is to indicate prognostic factors for patients at risk of disease progression and, therefore, which patients should be evaluated for transplantation.
