Does the Narconon Program utilize psychiatry or psychology?
A. No. The unique model of substance abuse treatment that Narconon employs was developed by L. Ron Hubbard from 1966 to completion in the mid 1980’s. The Narconon Method is drug-free. Neither psychology nor psychiatry are found in the Narconon program. Our philosophic opposition to the use of drugs for drug addicts such as methadone, antabuse, valium, prozac and other psychiatric drugs in treatment are part of the reason for this. Independent studies have been done on the effectiveness of the Narconon program. One of these studies, done in Spain, had these results: • 86.5% stated they had positive results from Narconon. 69.2% Were still off drugs after 2 years. • 89.2% said Narconon staff are very qualified. • 0% dealt in drugs after finishing the Narconon program. 0% committed robberies after finishing the Narconon program.
