Does the Multipipe Edition require more than one Onyx pipe to operate?

0

No. The Multipipe Edition will run on any SGI workstation, including but not limited to a 32-bit O2, Onyx2 single pipe, and Onyx2 multi-pipe workstations. To get full advantage of parallel rendering performance, more than one pipe is required. Does the Multipipe Edition use SGI Performer or OpenInventor? No. The Multipipe Edition is a high-performance implementation of OpenGL plus the SGI Multipipe-SDK (MPK) system, following our long-established and optimized OpenGL rendering system for scientific and technical visualization. Does the volume rendering system now use the SGI Volumizer? No. The native OpenGL volume rendering system in AVS/Express is included in the MPU renderer.
