Does the Mormon religion respect homosexuality?
The prohibition against homosexuality is very strong. I know 2 different women who were married in the LDS church to homosexuals for years. The men didn’t tell anyone, even their wives, because they knew they would be thrown out of the church. The LDS church used to have a program called Evergreen where they tried to de-program gays. It was a miserable failure, of course. Edit to add: There is an extra punishment for gay Mormons. Everyone’s reward for being a good Mormon is to go to a level of heaven where they will be eternally with God and their family. The catch is that you have to be married to someone of the opposite sex to get there. There are just as many gays who are Mormon as anywhere else. They and their families believe they will not go to heaven no matter how good they are, even if they are celibate. The Mormon culture is oriented around families.
