Does the Mormon church teach that Elohim and Jehovah are separate gods?
According to the Bible, Jehovah is Elohim. Elohim is Hebrew for God. There are many elohims, but Jehovah is the only true God. Dagon is an elohim as well as Baal, Tammuz, Ashtoreth, and many others. (Psalm 100:3) Know that Jehovah is God. It is he that has made us, and not we ourselves. [We are] his people and the sheep of his pasturage. (Deuteronomy 6:4) “Listen, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah. (Jeremiah 10:10) But Jehovah is in truth God. He is the living God and the King to time indefinite. Because of his indignation the earth will rock, and no nations will hold up under his denunciation. (Hosea 13:4) “But I am Jehovah your God from the land of Egypt, and there was no God except me that you used to know; and there was no savior but I. (1 Samuel 2:2) There is no one holy like Jehovah, for there is no one but you; And there is no rock like our God. (Psalm 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth. (Exodus 6:3)
