Does the MMPI-2-RF provide information on MMPI-2 Code Types?
The MMPI-2-RF is based on a dimensional measurement model that assesses individual differences on a range of broadly defined to more narrowly focused scales. The code type approach to MMPI-2 interpretation is based on a categorical model that classifies test takers into profile types based (commonly) on the two highest Clinical Scales on a profile. The dimensional model offers two primary advantages: it more readily conveys the degree (rather than absence versus presence) of impairment in addition to the kind of problems a test taker is likely to experience and it allows for the identification of a wider range of problems.
