Does the MMPI-2-RF have an equivalent of the MAC-R scale of the MMPI-2?
The MMPI-2 MAC-R scale is a measure of personality characteristics associated with an increased risk for substance abuse. These same personality characteristics (a propensity toward sensation-seeking and risk-taking behavior) are measured by the MMPI-2-RF Higher-Order Scale BXD (Behavioral-Externalizing Dysfunction), the Restructured Clinical scale RC4 (Antisocial Behavior), and the PSY-5 Scale DISC-r (Disconstraint). Table 3-16 of the Technical Manual shows that these are the three MMPI-2-RF scales that are most highly correlated with MAC-R in a variety of settings. All three scales are also associated with risk for substance abuse. As is the case with the MMPI-2, the best predictor of substance abuse risk on the MMPI-2-RF is a scale that assesses this behavior directly, the Specific Problems Scale SUB (Substance abuse).
