Gord Mackintosh (Minister of Justice and Attorney General): The Bill, I guess, deserves the comments at second reading and, if there were any questions, we certainly would be prepared to entertain those. Mr. Chairperson: We thank the Minister. Does the critic from the Official Opposition have an opening statement? Mr. Darren Praznik (Lac du Bonnet): Mr. Chair, I am going to skip the opening statement and ask the question I indicated at second reading. I take it that this will allow for the enforcement of maintenance and support orders from other jurisdictions. Mr. Mackintosh: This extends to civil judgments beyond maintenance enforcement, but the effectiveness of the legislation does depend on the federal ratification of the treaty.
