DOES THE MANAGEMENT OF BLADDER PERFORATION DURING TRANSURETHRAL RESECTION PREDISPOSE TO EXTRAVESICAL TUMOR RECURRENCE?

METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 3410 patients (2950 men and 460 women) who underwent transurethral resection of bladder cancer in our department from September 1990 to September 2000. All patients with a bladder perforation underwent a thorough follow-up, including cystoscopy, examination under anesthesia, ultrasonography, chest x-ray, and abdominal C/T scans on regular intervals.
