The fact is that clean coal requires the extremely dirty and environmentally destructive technique of mountain top strip mining. So yes, the actual burning of the new coal is clean but its procurement isn’t. As for nuclear, how is relying on Russia, Sudan, and any number of unstable African countries for new sources of uranium any better than depending on the middle east for oil?
