Does the loss of SACS accreditation mean that Clayton County Public Schools is no longer approved to award credit to employees for teacher certification and professional learning courses?
With the of loss of SACS accreditation, the Georgia Professional Standards Commission has withdrawn approval of Clayton County Public Schools as an approved professional education unit for delivery of GaTAPP, the One Year Supervised Practicum (OYSP), and endorsement programs that include gifted, reading, and Teacher Support Specialist for programs begun after September 1, 2008. The Georgia Department of Education has the responsibility of approving professional learning programs and will take the same action regarding awarding professional learning credit to employees.
