All libraries have copies of most forms for Federal and Michigan taxes as well as for the city of Detroit. Additionally, all libraries have current reproducible forms that you may photocopy. HFCL has reproducible sets for the last seven years. Tax forms are also available online through the library’s Internet connection.
No, normally the Library does not carry tax forms. The only access the Library has to tax forms is via the IRS website or located in Lassers tax guides. Call either the Main Library or the Hunt Branch to see if they have the one you need. The Libraries do carry tax publications and law. Yes. During tax season the library provides Federal, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts tax forms. Most forms are located by the main entrance. At other times forms may be photocopied from binders in the Reference Department. Federal tax forms are available online from the IRS. New Hampshire Tax Forms are available online from the NH Department of Revenue Administration. Massachusetts Tax Forms are available online from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.

All Libraries also have reproducible forms, instructions, and schedules. Tax forms for the current year usually arrive in mid-January. Please contact your branch to see what’s available. You can also get the complete set of Federal tax forms, instructions, schedules, etc. from the IRS’s Web site. Most State forms are available at 1040.com. Previous years are also available at these sites. The Central Library and some branches have reproducible forms from previous years. Library staff cannot provide assistance or answer questions about taxes or tax forms. Fortunately, AARP Tax Assistance is available each year at selected locations. They get really busy as April 15th approaches, so make your appointment early!
