Does the library charge fines for overdue materials?
The library does not charge fines for overdue materials unless the materials have been borrowed from another library. The charge for overdue Interlibrary Loan materials is $1 per book per day. If an item is permanently lost, a charge of $50 per book ($75 for videotapes and DVDs) is assessed to the student’s account. Transcripts will not be sent and students cannot enroll in classes until all financial obligations to the university have been met.
The library does not charge fines, but you will have to pay for library materials that you damage or lose. Discipline and Unreturned Library Materials If an item is not returned on the date due, a written reminder is sent immediately to the student through his/her English class. A follow-up notice is sent when the item is one week late. At two weeks the student is called to the library to discuss the return of the late item. At three weeks, the parent is called and the family becomes involved in retrieving the unreturned item. At one month, a disciplinary referral is sent to the office and the appropriate Assistant Principal continues the discipline process. Report cards and diplomas are held for those students who have unreturned library materials. Once a disciplinary report is sent to the office, that student cannot use the library until the matter is resolved.
