Does the library accept donations of books?
A copy of the complete library Gift Policy is available at the front desk. In general, the library is grateful for gifts of materials. Items that the library will not accept are: • Textbooks, classroom manuals, teacher’s manuals, or related materials. • Books that have been marked with ink or highlighters. • Denominational materials and religious pamphlets. • Magazines; any exceptions must be approved by the library director. • Personal diaries, letters, workbooks, and the like. • Comic books. • Objects, other than traditional library materials, that would ordinarily be housed in a museum. Guidelines regarding the condition of materials are: • Books and audiovisual materials must be in good usable condition. • Books and audiovisual materials must be free of molds and odors caused by musty conditions, smoke or other reasons for offensive odors. • Books must be reasonably clean and free of excessive dust, grit, cobwebs, and the like. • Books must be free of bugs, silverfish, and other in
