Does the library accept donations of books, videos. etc.?
The Library is pleased to accept current bestsellers, & paperbacks; also Books on Tape or CD, videos and DVDs. Library selectors add some items to the collection; most other donated items go to the Friends of the Library book sales and ultimately the funds raise help the library in a myriad of ways. The library also seeks donations of materials related to South San Francisco history, such as school yearbooks, for inclusion in the Library History Room.
The Friends and Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library accept donations of materials which they sell to raise money for the Library. They will accept most hardcover and paperback books in good condition on all subjects. Donations may be taken to Book Bay at the Main Library or to the Book Donation Center at Ft. Mason Center or to the branches. Books to be considered for addition to the Library’s collection may be dropped off at the Information Desk on the first floor of the Main Library. Books may also be dropped off at a branch but please talk to the branch staff before bringing in your materials. For more information call 415-557-4400.
The Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library organization accepts donations of books in good condition, CDs, DVDs, audio-tapes, cassettes, puzzles, and games. Deliveries should be made between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Please call ahead so that the volunteers can be prepared to accept the donation (632-7878, ext. 35). Small donations may be left in the bins in the lobby and at the Registration Desk. Please be considerate of the volunteers who handle the books for the Friends’ Book Sales and Book Store! Donations should not be brought in trash bags, as the materials get damaged. Please do not leave boxes so heavy that the volunteers can’t lift them. The Friends can not accept damaged books or out of date textbooks.
