Yes. The Java Plug-in Software supports Netscape Navigator 3.0 and later on Windows 95 and 98, Windows NT 4.0, and Solaris 2.5 and 2.6-based systems. Q: The Java Plug-in 1.2.2 Software new features documentation mentions SmartUpdate support. What is it, and how can we take advantage of it? A: SmartUpdate is an auto-download feature supported by Netscape Navigator 4.0 and later. Using SmartUpdate, Navigator users will have auto-installation experiences similar to those of Internet Explorer users when they install Java Plug-in Software. With SmartUpdate, the installation will be triggered automatically and no manual installation will be required of the user. We are currently in the process of validating the SmartUpdate support for Java Plug-in Software. More details will be posted later.
