no it will not, it automatically stops doing what it was doing when u go to the home screen, unless ur ipod is jailbroken, if it is u r gonna need a program called backgrounder, it will allow u to go to the home screen while allowing u to download ur items and go about ur business, its great for pandora when ur texting or sumthing like that, well i hope this helps u out!!!
