IP telephones technology is still in its infancy. Today, IP telephones are expensive and often use proprietary versions of industry standards and protocols. In fact, any feature-rich IP telephone is as proprietary as a digital telephone. Quality of service (QOS) and power-related issues are still being resolved as well.
