Does the IDNR stock private ponds?
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Division of Fisheries, provides an initial stocking of sport fish for a nominal fee to privately owned impoundments 0.5 acres of larger through an application process. Applications for fish stocking must be submitted prior to August 31st of each year to be eligible for a fall stocking of fingerling sized bluegill, redear sunfish, and channel catfish. The largemouth bass are delivered the following summer, usually early July.
