Does the high divorce rate make you hesitant about getting married yourself?
Yes – I am so scared of the idea of divorce that it makes me question the whole idea of marriage. It seems nowadays that any time a married relationship suffers a fight – the first thing anyone thinks is – maybe we should get a divorce. I don’t want that kind of pressure. I want to have a relaxed relationship that can survive a few pitfalls. Plus – the sanctity of marrige is ridiculed everyday on the television here in the US with shows like “Flavor of Love” and “Next”. These shows are aimed at the very people who are in relationships thinking of marriage. Sometimes – I feel like they actually advocate cheating on your significant other – and so now – that behavior is more and more acceptable. Marriage scares the heck out of me because I don’t want my relationship to end because I forgot to call and check in one time – or be cheated on because the neighbor across the street has a nicer car than I do.
