Does the funeral home keep copies of death certificates on file?

Since the health department charges a fee for certified death certfiicates, we get only as many as the family requests at the arrangements conference. If you need an additional death certifcate later (up to four years after the death), you must go to the health department in the county where your loved one died. At the health department, go to the Vital Records office. For death certificates more than four years old, you must go to the main DHEC office on Bull Street in Columbia. If you need help obtaining a death certificate, please contact us and we will help you.
