You will not have any black particles in your countertop water filter even when you run water through your filter for the first time. With the shower filter, you need to turn the tap on for around 1 minute the first time you use it as there will be some initial granules which are there due to installation. After this first minute during the initial time you use the shower filter, the water will run clear for the life of the cartridge and beyond. This post was submitted by Soo Leong Wong.
