Does the filesystem have an undelete capability?

0

There is no undelete in XFS. However at least some XFS driver implementations does not wipe file information nodes completely so there are chance to recover files with specialized commercial software like Raise Data Recovery for XFS. In this kind of XFS driver implementation it does not re-use directory entries immediately so there are chance to get back recently deleted files even with their real names. This applies to most recent Linux distributions, as well as to most popular NAS boxes that use embedded linux and XFS file system. Anyway, the best is to always keep backups.
