I doubt that i’d be best answer for this question after reading the others above me. but i’ll give it my few cents. While it may be true that some people fear that if they ask about 2012 again, they’d be hit with answers like: “let’s give it a rest” or “enough about the crazy stuff already.” People still feel that they can continually ask those questions. The beauty of being labeled ‘crazies’ and ‘flakes’ is that, it’s all relative. Being part of the scientific community myself, i know i’ve been called crazy quite a number of times when we discuss fuzzy logic in the presence of poeple not familiar with the term. However, crazy is relative and in reciprocity, we often call people who follow fashion like their life depended on it, as (whaddaya know) “crazy.” and in retrospect, it has also stopped several of us for inquiring about fashion.
