Does the fact that the government is paying off the Guantanamo Bay detainees show that they are guilty?
Let us get a few things straight here. Guantanamo was a concentration camp, built and run by AMERICA not Britain. Had the British government protested about the British detainees, America would not have capitulated and let them go, otherwise they would have had to let all the prisoners go and that would have been seen by the world as a climb down by America. Bush would never have allowed that humiliation. Not all of the detainees were guilty of terrorism. None of the detainees were allowed to stand trial. British justice proclaims that you are innocent until PROVEN guilty. Many here in Britain accused the detainees of being guilty before they had a chance to stand trial and be cross examined in a court of law. The whole thing was a publicity stunt and vote winner for Bush. Guantanamo was always a contentious issue here in Britain.
