Does the European Union have a promising future?
The EU has stopped its growth for a while because, obviously, they have had a lot of problems with the new countries that have an uneven level of development. Right now they have a problem with the euro. Greece went deeply into debt and, if they don’t overcome that, it will be very difficult for any other country to be admitted immediately. But I foresee that within the next five to 10 years, more countries will be added again. Turkey might not be accepted because it is Islamic and nations like Germany and France are increasingly convinced that Turks should not be members of the EU. In all fairness, though, the history of Turkey is part of the history of Europe. Q: Is the expansion of the EU a positive development? Yes. First of all, it ends a lot of hatred forever. Remember that Europe has had a tragic history. Every generation for centuries has experienced war.
