Does the EU Directive have any impact on U.S. manufacturers and distributors of dietary supplements?
Again, the directive only applies to member countries of the European Union. However, manufacturers, distributors and retailers that have exported dietary supplements containing ingredients that are not on the Directive’s list will no longer be able to sell those products in the European Union as of August 1, 2005. In this way, the European Directive can have a negative impact on the U.S. dietary supplement industry.
