The European Parliament is an integral part of the policymaking process. The main objective of economic policymaking is the need for better regulation to achieve higher competitiveness. Again, the agreement on the Services Directive has been a concrete and successful example of how the European Parliament can contribute to more successful economic policymaking in Europe.
