Does the environmental policy have to be re-signed upon change of command?
Yes. Clause 4.2 of the ISO 14001:2004 standard states, “Top management shall define the organization’s environmental policy…” This means that the policy should be developed by the Garrison Commander and signed to demonstrate his/her support of the information contained within the policy. If a change of command occurs, the new commander should revisit the policy to ensure that they endorse the contents of the policy and are willing to commit the resources necessary to carry them out.
