Does the DR have political stability?
The Dominican Republic has enjoyed more than three decades of stable democratic conditions. The DR is considered a model Latin American country, and the political and economic climates are very stable and attractive for foreign investment. The government is very supportive and eager to increase foreign investment and provides generous incentives for foreigners wishing to invest or live in the country. The DR also signed CAFTA (Central America Free Trade Agreement) this year, providing significant economic stimulus to the country’s growth. The current President, Lionel Fernandez is considered one of the most progressive leaders in Latin America and maintains very close ties with the leadership of the U.S.
