Does the donors family have to pay for the donation?
No. The donor’s family does not pay for any expenses related to organ or tissue donation. Once consent for donation is established, the deceased is checked out of the hospital and readmitted under Nevada Donor Network’s name. This ensures that all donation related expenses are billed to Nevada Donor Network. Once the transplant surgery is complete, the deceased is sent to the funeral home selected by the donor family. Funeral expenses remain the responsibility of the donor’s family.
