Does the DHS simply jump to conclusions in a knee-jerk approach to national security?

The question is profoundly pervasive. One case in point is the use of body scanners at airports. Without due process and not considering public opinion, President Obama ordered the use of full-body scanning at our airports. The selected machine, manufactured by a unit of OSI Systems Inc., shows an X-Ray image of a person’s naked body along with accompanying objects. The issue is there are other less intrusive, less harmful devices that achieve the same objectives. For instance, there is non-radiation imaging—passive millimeter wave technology—that will detect potentially harmful objects on a person’s body, but not intrude on privacy or emit radiation. The unit displays a clothed body with highlighted objects. So, did the DHS / Transportation Security Agency consider this alternative, and why did they decide on naked pictures and potentially harmful radiation? I think the public would like to know, and to have access to testing and evaluation documentation—ideally, before deployment. Ms
