Does the Deschutes give away free trees?
In the past the Deschutes gave away surplus nursery trees, but with the closure of the Bend Pine Nursery we are unable to supply the public with surplus trees, but you can purchase trees from a state nursery. That nursery is Oregon Department of Forestry, DL Phipps Forest Nursery, 2424 Wells Rd., Elkton, OR 97436, 541-584-2214, http://www.odf.state.or.us/nursery/home.htm They have available Douglas fir, Grand fir, Ponderosa pine, Western hemlock, Western Red Cedar, miscellaneous other conifer and native riparian species.
